IOSH Working Safely – Whether you’re in construction, manufacturing, engineering, warehousing, transport, health and social care, or education, this course provides a start in working safety measures.
You will learn how to identify; safety signs, hazards and risks in the workplace, understand risk assessments, follow work policies and who to report accidents and near misses to.
The ‘Working Safely’ presentation is designed to be fun and get people fully involved and interested, with first class jargon-free technical content based on what people need to know in practice.
By completing this 1 day ‘Working Safely’ course you will have gained: A nationally recognised qualification and the knowledge and competence needed regarding health and safety awareness for a construction environment.
HOW TO GET YOUR CSCS GREEN LABOURER CARD:
By gaining your IOSH Working Safely certificate, you will be able to apply for your Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) green Labourer card. You must pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test within 2 years prior to applying for a new card.
The aim of the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Operatives Test is to examine your knowledge for construction site safety.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS/PRE – REQUISITES:
There are no entry requirements or pre-requisites for this course.
AIM OF THE COURSE:
To provide learners with an understanding of how their actions in the workplace contribute to safety and health – To ensure that learners clearly understand their safety and health responsibilities.
At the end of the course delegates will be able to:
1 Identify why it is important to work safely
2 Identify everyone’s responsibilities in relation to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace
3 Define key terms in safety and health
4 Identify workplace hazards and risks, their impact and how to control them
5 Identify ways safety, health and wellbeing are managed and improved within the workplace

- Defining hazard and risk
- Identifying common hazards
- Improving safety performance
ASSESSMENT / EXAM:
All delegates will complete:
Part A: Knowledge and Comprehension Questions – This consists of 20 questions in a variety of formats.
Part B: Practical Application – This consists of four hazard-spotting questions plus four questions about harm caused by hazards and the best ways to control it.
IOSH WORKING SAFELY CERTIFICATE:
After successful completion of the course delegates can choose to have either an IOSH Working Safely certificate (Nationally recognised) or an IOSH Safety Passport or maybe both.
IOSH SAFETY PASSPORT:
A robust plastic (credit card sized) card outlining your health and safety training, your photo, expiry date and other security features will be shown, this is a practical way of confirming a worker’s training credentials. It‘s also ideal for contractors and multi-site workers; each passport is valid for three years and with hologram and signature makes it more tamper and fraud proof than the certificate.
